Jeff Tarlowe
Co-Founder and Managing Director

Mr. Tarlowe (45 years of age) is a Managing Director of PCV and was the prior Co-Founder and Chief Financial Officer of Merck Capital Ventures, a $100 million VC fund, responsible for leading the financial evaluation and due diligence of opportunities and structuring transactions.  He develops sophisticated financial models to value businesses, review prospective merger and acquisitions and monitor ongoing performance of portfolio companies.

Mr. Tarlowe was employed by Merck since 1988.  Prior to Merck Capital Ventures, he held the position of Vice President-Financial Evaluations at Merck-Medco where he led a group responsible for the evaluation of corporate transactions, investments and product launches.  Previously, Mr. Tarlowe headed the Working Group on Industry Economics which collaborated with academic experts to perform research on critical public policy issues, such as risk and return to R&D, the social value of pharmaceuticals, industry pricing and innovation.  Prior positions of increasing responsibility in Merck's Finance Department included Director, Treasury Planning and Manager, Foreign Exchange.

Mr. Tarlowe currently serves on the Boards of Acurian and High Throughput Genomics and supports the Boards of other Merck Capital Ventures portfolio companies.

Mr. Tarlowe graduated with honors from Columbia Business School, earning a Master of Business Administration degree in Finance.  He received his undergraduate degree cum laude in Mathematics from Pomona College.
