Mr. Lofberg (62 years of age) is a Managing Director and Chairman of PCV and formerly CEO and Co-Founder of Merck Capital Ventures, a $100 million VC fund investing in companies with technology based solutions for the pharmaceutical industry.
Mr. Lofberg was the Chairman and President of Merck-Medco, a $24 billion NYSE company, and led to its becoming a leader in prescription drug benefits, the world's largest online pharmacy and an important nexus of connectivity among doctors, patients and insurers. Prior to Merck-Medco’s acquisition by Merck in 1993, Mr. Lofberg was a senior executive and director with Medco Containment Services (predecessor to Merck-Medco) since 1988. Between 1973 and 1988, Mr. Lofberg was a health care strategy consultant with The Boston Consulting Group (BCG), where he opened and led BCG's NY office and ran its healthcare practice.
Mr. Lofberg currently serves on the Boards of public and private companies, including inVentiv (VNTV), D2Hawkeye, PHT, Cytel, VisEn Medical, and ImpactRx.
Mr. Lofberg holds a Master of Science degree in Industrial Administration from Carnegie-Mellon University and an undergraduate degree from The Stockholm School of Economics in Sweden.
